What if I told you that you can save money on groceries while shopping at BCIT?
Sounds farfetched, but I’m being completely honest!
Orientation Day feels like it was ages ago, but if there’s one thing that stood out to me most, it was the Harvest Box. Being a student myself and always looking for ways to save money, the Harvest Box was something that intrigued me for several reasons: convenience, value, and health.
What is the Harvest Box?
It is a monthly program offered at BCIT that provides students with affordable high quality produce. For just $8.50, the Value Box provides you with up to 12 pounds of seasonal fruits and vegetables.
But wait! It gets even better. For $15.50, you can get your hands on the Local Box. Not only will you be saving yourself some hard-earned cash, you’ll also be supporting the local farmers our community!
After doing the math, the value is certainly better than what you’d get at a supermarket. Consider all the time you save of having to walk up and down the aisles, too. After all, time is money and we BCIT students value our time.
Lastly, this is a great initiative for students to stay healthy. Since the programs at BCIT are typically fulltime, eating healthy is often overlooked.
To sum it up, for less than $10, you save both time and money, and eat healthier while supporting local farmers. Need any other reasons to get your hands on one?
