We all know what it’s like, living on a budget but wanting a nice night out once in a while. Maybe you’ve somehow found time in your busy BCIT schedule to drum up a hot date or maybe you’re recovering from midterms and want to treat yourself to a little reward for all the hard work you’ve been doing. And you know what, once in a while, it’s possible to enjoy a nice evening out while still maintaining a pretty good budget. So get ready to fancy up with some of these affordable nights out.
The Bay is hosting a “Guys Night Out” tonight at the downtown location. Men and women alike are invited down to a shopping evening at Hudson’s Bay hosted by Jon Montgomery of The Amazing Race Canada. While the shopping may be a bit pricey, the Bay will also have Whisky Wisemen for drinks, appetizers and more during this one night advance sale. And if it’s anything like the Toronto version of the event there will be snack and drinks a plenty.
So head down for a little VIP evening of perusing and enjoy their snacks and drinks!
Yaletown is, without a doubt, a bustling neighborhood full of nice shops and amazing restaurants. However, with this upscale neighbourhood comes a decent little price tag; if you’re on a tight budget, Yaletown tends to pretty much be a no-go zone.
Lucky for us, the annual Taste of Yaletown event starts today! From Oct. 15-29, over 20 Yaletown restaurants will be offering unique dishes and combinations of food and drink specials at set tiered pricing of $25, $35, and $45. While this is still a bit of a splurge, it is the most affordable way to visit some of these restaurants and enjoy the delicious food they have to offer while enjoying a nice night out.
Plus a portion of the profits from each meal gets donated to The Greater Vancouver Food Bank so you can feel good about where your money is going!
If you’re looking for a super shwanky evening out, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra might be right up your alley. With an average price of over $50 (depending on which section you’re sitting in), this tends to be an evening for those with a bit more money to spare. However, thanks to TD’s sponsorship, anyone under the age of 35 and/or full time students (that’s you BCIT peeps!) get access to the same set of tickets for only $15!
This applies to pretty much every section meaning only $15 for 1st section tickets! (That’s the fancy way of saying basically front row). That is literally $55 cheaper than regular price for those seats, so if you’re looking to splurge, this is your chance!
There you have it, and if you feel like getting real fancy, plan your night out for a nice dinner in Yaletown followed by a night at the VSO listening to Beethoven. Cheers!
