Vancouver Fashion Week: South Asian Night

Day 4 of Vancouver Fashion Week continues with showcases from both local and international talent. The night starts off with a collection by Tarnjit K Cheema. Take a look below for a recap of her designs. She used an array of big, bold and bright colours with abstract cuts and prints. I felt that this collection, much like her other ones, wouldn’t really be commercially viable – but props for the creativity.

The most anticipated show of the night was the work of international designer Shravan Kumar. Presenting a collection with beautifully crafted designs in Ajrak, Kumar’s designs boasts colours in blues, greens, maroons, blacks, and golds. The fabrics that Shravan uses are environmentally friendly block prints that are actually hydrating for your skin! Shravan ends the show with humbly joined hands and a standing ovation.
