My name is Marie, and art has been my hobby since elementary school when I begged my parents for art classes. Having art as a lifelong avocation has led me to want an art-related career. After lots of research and consideration, I decided to pursue a career in Interior Design at BCIT.
I like to create with lots of different mediums. These typically include watercolour, acrylics, oils, pencils, and digital, with the occasional chalk and clay pieces. My art style tends to be more realistic, and my strength is the focus on the little details. However, this does prevent me from completing my work as fast as I would like, which is why I took up digital painting. It helps me keep my work simpler.
For my digital paintings (all the ducks), I used the Wacom Intuos drawing tablet, with my go-to software being Clip Studio Paint. To keep my work less detail-focused, I have left my digital painting zoomed only to a certain point, and I use a thicker custom brush. Not zooming in prevents me from focusing only on a certain portion of my image and instead forces me to see the entire thing. Ignoring zoom after a certain point has greatly improved my ability to create works faster and helped me grow my skill set in the different techniques and effects I can use.
