The excitement of Valentines Day and Chinese New Years has worn off but there are still lots of fun things to do around Vancouver over the next week. Whether you’re feeling a Throwback Thursday of epic proportions or you’re in the mood to go full hipster, we’ve got some fun activities for you.
Teen Angst Night
Remember the days when you’d come home from school and jump onto msn where you could chat with friends or more likely change your status to new song lyrics and alternate between being online and appearing offline? Remember how ridiculous you were back then? Well, if you don’t, or if you’re going to try to deny you were ever part of this, the Fox Cabaret is hosting a Teen Angst Night to help refresh your memory.
This is a show that’s been taking place since 2000 and tomorrow night (Feb. 25th), the Fox Cabaret will open the floor to some of the most memorable readers as well as some fresh faces to share their diaries of teen angst past. The rules of the evening are simple:
- The work must be your own
- You must have written it between the ages of 10-19
- You cannot be proud of the work your sharing. It’s best if you’re extremely embarrassed of it.
For less than $20 you can attend this evening full of laughs and maybe even reflect on your own past anguishes. Show reviews and ticket information can be found here!
Food Truck February
Head down to Nat Bailey Stadium this Saturday or Hastings Park this Sunday for greenest Food Truck February yet. In an effort to reduce waste, food trucks on site have been challenged to create a menu item that fits in a reusable jar. Grab your nearest mason jar and head down to show your support of no waste while enjoying some creative dishes from some of Vancouver’s favourite food trucks.
Included in the free entry are covered seating areas and live music to keep you entertained. Plus, if you post a photo of your mason jar meal you can be entered to win a VFM Zero Waste Survival Kit including a reusable coffee mug, a limited edition canvas bag and reusable produce bags.
The Oscars at the Rio Theatre
Want to do a little something special for the Academy Awards this year but don’t want to break the bank? Head down to the Rio theatre this Sunday for a free screening of the Oscars. Dress up and have your picture taken on the red carpet and then head inside to enjoy grilled cheese from the concession. Grab some friends and make a day of it with Oscar trivia, and contests for best costume and best speech during the commercial breaks.
