Congratulations on finishing your first week of class (let the countdown to winter break begin). And what better way to celebrate finishing your first week than getting out for some fun, budget-friendly activities? So, finish up your homework, this is BCIT after all, you are very likely going to have homework, and check out this weekend of fun activities.
Friday
Hit up the original drive-in movie this weekend at Langley’s Twilight Drive-In Cinema. This week’s line-up is, in my opinion, one of the best line-ups they’ve had all summer. Start with Straight Outta Compton, followed by action comedy American Ultra, and end the night with Trainwreck.
This drive in cinema is great because they always play new releases; for just $12.50 you get to see the full line up of three movies from the comfort of your own car. Plus,
the fact that they are permanently there means they’ve got it together. The parking spots are slightly raised so your view is never obstructed by the car in front of you, they have a concession stand of delicious food like burgers and poutine, and their washrooms are clean and well lit.
Where: Twilight Drive-In 260th St. & Fraser Highway in Langley
When: Every night, rain or shine. This line-up runs Fri. Sept. 11- Thurs. Sept. 17
How much: $12.50 total for all three movies
Saturday
Railtown Tailgate Summer Barbecue Series
The oh-so delicious Railtown Café is having a summer BBQ this Saturday and it is definitely worth checking out. Tickets are $16 (or $10 for vegetarians), which might be breaking the bank a little bit, BUT you will definitely be able to get your money’s worth if you do it right.
The team at Railtown Café will be serving up 35-hour Texas-style Beef Brisket, Applewood-smoked Pork Shoulder, Beer-Brined Fraser Valley Chicken, D’Original Sausage Haus Brats, Tabatha’s Jalapeño Cornbread, and Corn on the Cob, plus a variety of salads on the side.
If that menu line up isn’t enough to convince you, Railtown will be bringing in an array of local craft beers, house-made sangria, Lynchburg lemonade, and wine by the glass, or for those who are more ambitious, by the bottle. They will also be serving up happy hour on tap from 4-6 so get in early if you want to take advantage of their deals.
Bonus: If you buy your ticket online, you get a free drink when you get there.
Where: Railtown Café – 397 Railway Street, Vancouver, BC
When: Saturday Sept. 12, 2015 from 4:00pm – 10:00pm
How much: $16 for meat lovers or $10 for vegetarians
