Photoshop Express: A Life Changing Photo Editor

As a photo editing/manipulation wiz, I often get asked to edit peoples’ photos. From now on, my response to “Amy, can you just quickly make this photo brighter?” my answer is two simple words. Photoshop Express.

Many photo editing apps that I have tried are displeasing and don’t work the way I want them to. After downloading it last week, I am happy to report that I found “the one” with the Photoshop Express app.

What is it?

The Photoshop Express app is an app that is available at both the App Store and on Google Play. This app is a game-changer for on-phone photo editing and the best part is that it’s FREE.

This app provides a quick and easy way to edit and adjust the look of photos that were taken on your phone. Gone are the days where I have to transfer a photo to my laptop, edit it, and then transfer it back! Although it can’t be used for manipulation or layering of any kind, it is a great app for adjusting.

The Capabilities

Photoshop Express has many editing capabilities including adjusting the following:

  • Exposure
  • Clarity
  • Sharpness
  • Contrast
  • Highlights
  • Shadows
  • Temperature
  • Tint
  • Vibrance

Additional features include cropping, rotating, and straightening a photo, as well as correcting red eye. It even can reduce blemishes (although this feature is a finicky and is much easier on the desktop version of Photoshop).

If you aren’t confident in your ability to select the right amount of adjustments, there are also many different options available for filters. Not to mention that there are 31 different options of frames. Yes, 31 options.

The Photoshop Express app also has paid features where you get Noise Reduction, Defog, and different filters.

The Results

The results are incredible for a smartphone photo editor. I edited a photo that I had on my phone and the result was a dramatic difference in colour, vibrance, and brightness. With this particular photo, I adjusted the exposure, highlights/shadows, tint, and vibrance.

As you can see, the quality of the photo isn’t affected too much other than the slight increase of graininess. You won’t be able to tell a difference in the quality for photos taken under good conditions. For social sharing purposes, the quality difference of the photo shouldn’t be an issue.

So uninstall your current photo editing app right away and download the Photoshop Express app. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
