Tim Hortons – the only place on campus to feel truly Canadian.
I cannot even count the number of times I make ‘Timmy runs’ each week. Like many other students who drag their feet about every morning, having that cup of joe in my hand and, perhaps, a quick bite is all I need to kick-start the long day that awaits me. I’ll admit, I am brand loyal to Tim Hortons and I am addicted to coffee. Recently, however, there is another reason that keeps me waiting 15+ minutes in line. Is it the new wraps? Perhaps even the seasonal donut? Nope. In fact, it’s not even food-related!
If you haven’t had a chance to see the shiny ads everywhere, Tim Hortons has introduced a new campaign – one that taps into the nostalgia of geeks like myself who grew up collecting trading cards. Yes, friends. Tim Hortons has partnered with the NHL and Upper Deck to bring you premier collector cards.
For a limited time only, this campaign offers customers the opportunity to get their hands on limited edition cards including a 1-in-87 chance of finding a personally SIGNED Sidney Crosby card. It’s like finding Willy Wonka’s golden ticket! In addition, there are other instant prizes including signed jerseys, Tim Cards, and a chance to attend this year’s NHL All Star game in Nashville, Tennessee. Each card pack is sold for $1.99 and only contains three cards; however, with the purchase of a drink, you can get them for $1. Each pack also comes with a unique code inside that allows for you to have a digital collection and entries into prize draws (prizes include Tim Cards, a PS4, and trip to Nashville).
Asides from these prizes, I think it is the novelty of collecting cards and my love of the game that has me returning to Tim Hortons more frequently than often. That said, I have more doubles than I can count and if you ever find yourself looking for a trade, feel free to Tweet me @MaitoMike. Happy collecting!
