This has been a big year in the LGBTQ community; first we saw Ireland legalizing same-sex marriage by popular vote, the first country in the world to do so. Next was the powerful movement within the transgender community by way of famous Olympian and reality star Caitlyn Jenner’s transition from man to woman. Finally, the world celebrated last month as the US legalized same-sex marriage across the board. Not to mention, Canada is celebrating its ten-year anniversary of same-sex marriage legalization this year.
“Celebrities used to be a gay club exclusively, but over the past few years we’ve seen our customer base diversify to no longer be defined by sexual preference. It’s really reflective of how people are, in general, becoming more accepting of each other as human beings, rather than by sexual preference.” says Steck. “We’ve seen leaps and bounds worldwide, and we’re proud to say that in Vancouver the sentiments have been progressively positive and continue to evolve to make us a welcoming community for everyone.”
Vancouver’s Pride is now the 5th biggest Pride Parade and Festival in the world and this year’s festivities are sure to exceed expectations.
