Abby Tabaco — ELECTED CHAIR SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCES

BCITSA Student Executive
2017/2018 Elections

Congratulations to the winners of this year’s BCITSA student elections. The newly elected student executives will serve a term from June 1st, 2017 –  May 31st, 2018. For more information on BCITSA student governance visit www.bcitsa.ca

Why are you seeking election?
I want to better student experiences at BCIT and see a more connected and engaged community. I find that we very rarely collaborate and interact with disciplines outside of our programs, which is unfortunate as these people may very well be our future colleagues. Therefore, I want to be able to facilitate opportunities for collaboration and interaction, so that students will be able to build a network that they can use in the future!

What do you hope to achieve during your term in office?
I would like to continue promoting health and wellness within the student body. I feel that this is very important as students at BCIT are put through their paces and at times they tend to neglect their health. I also aim to continue building interdisciplinary relations within the School of Health Sciences and other schools. Lastly, I would like to make the campus as environmentally friendly as possible (e.g. uniform disposal/recycle/composting units throughout)
