Silver Pen Award 2016-2017

Tanushree Pillai

The Silver Pen Award is presented annually by the BCIT Student Association to the student contributor, staff member, or volunteer at LINK magazine whose writing demonstrated the highest level of quality and/or community impact throughout the year.

We are pleased to present this year’s Silver Pen award to Tanushree Pillai. Tanu showed up at our office last September with an open heart and a desire to share her unique experiences with others. Throughout the year, Tanu gave us ideas and perspectives that ranged from fun and flavourful to bold and beautiful. An immigrant mother who came to Canada for a new career and chance at a better life for her son, Tanu embodies what it means to inspire. Through her thoughtful words, she makes us comfortable in our own skin, accepting our flaws, and eager to learn more about the people around us. This is an accomplishment worth celebrating.
